Kepler 37e

Kepler 37e would be a good place to live if we ever have to leave Earth. Kepler 37e was only discovered in 2014, but we have discovered some important information to know that it could likely sustain life as we know it. This planet is about the same radius as Jupiter (about 3 times larger than all other planets combined), which means that there could potentially be a significant greater amount of room on Kepler 37e than on Earth. I think this is a good thing considering how exponentially our population is continuing to grow.

The main reason that I believe Kepler 37e is a good choice to support human life is because according to NASA Eyes, it falls within the habitable zone of the planetary system. This means that liquid water can exist here. Since liquid water is one of the most important components of sustaining human life, Kepler 37e seems like a pretty good option! I would not want to imagine life without water. Although, it is possible that there is another substance that could sustain life, that is currently out of our realm of understanding. Even though water could possibly be found here, there are some unknown things about Kepler 37e that might be interesting to discover and that might present some challenges.

Since the orbital period is only 51 days, this raises a lot of questions about how we think about time and aging. Would we age 7 times as fast as we do on Earth? Or would we live 7 times as long? Would time pass in the same way as we know it, or would there we a slowing down or speeding up compared to time on Earth? These questions are hard to answer until we are forced to get there! Luckily, it only takes 215 years to get here if you are traveling at light speed! Perhaps by the time we are forced to leave Earth there will be a faster way to travel.
